Visit Wells

'Ambassadors' to Meet & Greet visitors to Wells

Tourism is the 'life blood' of the City. 'Ambassadors' wearing sashes will be in the Market Place and on the Cathedral Green to welcome visitors, hand out maps and point out the attractions of the City. Coaches will only be met if they let us know date and time of arrival. This should be handled by the existing team dependent on numbers.

We now wish to extend this to all visitors to Wells

What's involved?

Greeting and making visitors as welcome as possible to the City. Training will be given and the main attractions – Cathedral, Palace, Museum, Alms Houses, Town Hall, Bishop's Barn, Vicars Close, St. Cuthberts etc - will be asked to give 10 points (more or less) for Ambassadors to share. Maps will be given out.

Why get involved?

As stated, tourism is the 'life blood' of the City and Ambassadors will make a huge contribution to visitors’ enjoyment and knowledge. Many miss Vicars' Close and can be seen taking photos of St. Cuthberts thinking it's the Cathedral! Feedback on those helped is hugely rewarding.

How to get involved?

  • Log in to your account.
  • Accept the challenge so we know you are taking part.
  • Volunteer! Dependent on numbers we envisage Ambassadors' will give 2-3 hours a week, Monday to Saturday. Please contact Ross Young by email . Due to the current lockdown restrictions recruitment and training may be delayed but please let us know if you are interested.
